Ulpan is an Israeli method for teaching and improving all Hebrew language skills - speaking, comprehension, reading and writing. Ulpan classes at the JCC are taught by experienced teachers who are native Hebrew speakers. You'll find small, interactive day and evening classes at all levels. Register by Monday, February 9 and enjoy a $25 discount off the total Ulpan fees.

what level is right for you

  • Beginner Aleph is for students with no prior knowledge of the Hebrew Alphabet. Click here for a listing of all classes including Beginner Aleph.
  • New students at all levels above beginner should contact the Ulpan director, Adina Marom. To make an appointment for placement call 646-505-4426 or email or click here to download a placement test.
  • For students continuing in the Ulpan program: If you wish to register for a winter/spring Ulpan class, and you studied during the fall 2014 semester please log on to and register for the next class in sequence.
  • For example, if you took Beginner Aleph, you may register for Beginner Bet; if you took Intermediate Bet, you may register for Intermediate Gimmel. If you have any questions about your level, please call Adina Marom at 646.505.4426.
  • The 16 session summer semester starts on Monday, February 23.

refund policy

The JCC does not issue refunds for classes missed as a result of illness or other circumstances beyond our control. The following refund policy applies to Ulpan classes exclusively: To receive a 100% refund, a written request (this includes letter, fax, or email) must be received by the end of the second week of the student's enrollment in the class.

To receive a 50% refund, written requests must be received by the end of the third week of a student's enrollment in the class. No refunds will be given after the third week of class. JCC membership fees are not refundable. Please allow three to four weeks for the processing of refund requests.
