An Insider's First Listen to Great Music

PREformances with Allison Charney
The Show between the Rehearsal and the Real Thing
by Lauren Glassberg

MANHATTAN (WABC) -- On the second Tuesday of every month, the JCC in Manhattan's small stage comes to life.

Artists, who are getting ready to perform at even larger venues, perform their music for the small crowd.

What happens here falls somewhere between a rehearsal and a performance.
Opera singer Allison Charney calls them pre-formances. She came up with the idea for the series after realizing that a little more time in front of an audience would better prepare her for her big shows...After all, practice in front of an audience makes perfect.
